Frequently Asked Questions

CastlePath Advisory helps small businesses, veteran-owned companies, and growth-stage contractors prepare for federal contracting opportunities. We support clients with federal readiness assessments, capability development, certification readiness, opportunity research, capture planning, and proposal compliance support.

CastlePath is best suited for any small business, veteran-owned firms, specialty trade firms, professional services firms, and commercial companies exploring federal work for the first time.

CastlePath is not competing with free APEX/SBDC support. APEX Accelerators provide no-cost government contracting guidance, which is important to acknowledge. Your paid value is the customized, hands-on implementation: assessment, positioning, deliverables, outreach templates, capture structure, and proposal compliance support.

If you are new to federal contracting, the best first step is usually a Federal Readiness Assessment. This helps identify whether your business has the right foundation, registrations, service offering, NAICS alignment, documentation, and positioning to begin pursuing federal opportunities.

No. You do not need to be registered before working with CastlePath. If you are not registered, we can help you understand what SAM.gov is, what information you may need, and where registration fits into your overall readiness plan. SAM.gov is the official federal site used to register an entity or request a Unique Entity ID for doing business with the federal government.

A Unique Entity ID, often called a UEI, is the identifier assigned through SAM.gov for entities doing business with the federal government. SAM.gov describes the UEI as a 12-character alphanumeric code that uniquely identifies entities in SAM.gov.

CastlePath can provide readiness guidance, document organization support, and step-by-step advisory support related to SAM.gov registration. However, the client is responsible for reviewing, approving, and submitting all final information and representations through official government systems.

No. CastlePath does not guarantee contract awards, agency decisions, proposal selections, revenue outcomes, or business results. Our role is to help clients prepare, organize, position, research, and pursue opportunities with greater structure and confidence.

A VOSB is a veteran-owned small business. An SDVOSB is a service-disabled veteran-owned small business. SBA’s veteran contracting assistance guidance states that SBA certification allows SDVOSBs to compete for federal sole-source and set-aside contracts, while certified VOSBs may have additional opportunities through VA’s Vets First program.

A capability statement is a concise business profile used to communicate your company’s services, differentiators, past performance, certifications, NAICS codes, and contact information to contracting officers, small business offices, prime contractors, and potential teaming partners.

NAICS codes describe the type of industry or business activity your company performs. PSC codes, or Product Service Codes, help categorize the products or services the government buys. CastlePath helps clients review code alignment so their federal-facing profile better matches realistic opportunities.

That is common. SAM.gov registration is only one part of federal readiness. Many companies still need stronger positioning, capability materials, agency targeting, opportunity research, teaming strategy, and proposal-readiness support after registration.

CastlePath provides proposal compliance support, proposal organization, proposal outlines, compliance matrices, technical narrative support, past performance formatting, required attachment checklists, and final submission review. The client remains responsible for final review, approval, pricing, representations, certifications, and submission.

A bid/no-bid review helps determine whether a specific opportunity is worth pursuing. It considers factors such as scope fit, eligibility, set-aside status, location, timeline, bonding or insurance requirements, past performance, competition, pricing risk, and proposal complexity.

Yes. CastlePath can help clients prepare for teaming conversations by strengthening capability statements, identifying relevant primes or partners, clarifying differentiators, and creating outreach language. CastlePath does not guarantee teaming agreements or subcontract awards.

Because CastlePath services involve custom consulting, preparation, research, and deliverables, payments are generally non-refundable once work has begun. Any refund, credit, or adjustment is reviewed in good faith and handled according to the applicable proposal, scope of work, or client agreement.

Helpful items include your company website, service list, current capability statement if available, SAM.gov status if known, NAICS codes if known, certifications, past performance examples, target agencies if any, and any solicitations or opportunities you are considering.

CastlePath will review your current situation, ask targeted questions about your business and goals, identify where you may be in the federal contracting journey, and recommend the service package or next step that best fits your current stage.
